Mysore Mandala Yoga Shala resides in an old traditional Indian home with wooden columns, jute rugs and a vaulted ceiling. It’s in the quaint neighborhood of Lakshmipuram, not far from where Pattahbi Jois began teaching Westerners in his original shala home before moving to Gokulam. Mysore Mandala is surrounded by a beautiful garden and houses a café in the backyard, a massage room, and a few offices – one with internet access available to students for a nominal fee.
Sheshadri teaches Ashtanga classes from 5:30 – 8:30 am and then again at 5 pm Sunday through Friday except for moon days. The maximum amount of students in the main room is twelve usually practicing the primary Ashtanga series and with Sheshadri’s energy and love for teaching, this translates into lots of attention and wonderful adjustments of Ashtanga postures. His adjustments are deep and intuitive, but it’s best to drop-in for a single class first, since some people find his adjustments too strong. I personally love his adjustments and think he offers the second best Mysore yoga Ashtanga classes next to AYRI.
